Turning departments on and off

Your monthly package includes every department your office offers — there is nothing to buy or switch on separately. The line at the top of Departments & billing says so: one package, a monthly credit allowance, every department included.

Each department shows one word for where it stands:

  • Active — it is part of your office and can be given work.
  • Cancelled — it is not running for you at the moment. There is no on-switch on this screen; ask your CEO to start it (see below) and it comes back as Active.
  • Not yet staffed — an unusual state meaning the department is yours but has nobody in it yet. Ask your CEO about it rather than waiting for it to clear.

A department can also show Waiting for verification next to it — that is about its mailbox connection, not about the department itself.

Some departments need a connector before they can fully work

Section titled “Some departments need a connector before they can fully work”

A department can be ready to draft and plan the moment it is included, but a few need one more thing connected before they can act on the outside world:

  1. Open Departments & billing.
  2. Select Connect on the department that needs it.
  3. You are taken to the connectors screen for that department’s requirement — for example, a mailbox for the Sales department’s outreach.

Where a connector is not yet available (some social-network connections are still on the way), the connectors screen marks it Coming soon and tells you there is nothing to connect yet. It also tells you how much of the department is held up, and the two answers are different — read the line rather than assuming. Next to Google Ads and Meta Ads it says “This capability won’t run until one of these is connected — the rest of the department works today”; next to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn it says “Workers won’t run until one of these is connected.”

Turning a department’s own features on and off

Section titled “Turning a department’s own features on and off”

A few departments carry smaller feature toggles of their own — for example, Marketing’s competitor-monitoring feature. Open that department’s details from Departments & billing and use the switch next to a feature to turn it on or off; the change applies immediately.

Foundational departments run for every office

Section titled “Foundational departments run for every office”

Knowledge, Research and Finance work quietly for every office by design — they are what every other department relies on — so they are not listed as something to switch on or off.

You never have to find the right screen yourself. Describe what you need in your own words and your CEO decides how to route it — including turning on the right department’s work for you.
